Unfortunately, most if not all of us have personal experience with the painful side of our brains and the immense psychological and physical suffering they can cause. Brain Healing is meant to be a hopeful reminder of the capability to heal from sickness to health, trauma to resolution, addiction to rehabilitation, stagnation to self improvement, depression to contentment. A barren landscape of degenerated neurons in the lower left sprouts lush new golden dendrites upward that sparkle with life, the processes regenerating synaptic circuits that lead us to a thriving state of being. This is a reference in part to the Japanese technique of kintsukuroi wherein cracked or broken ceramics are repaired with gold, honoring the wisdom and growth that we gain through suffering. Brain Healing is a message of hope to all those who live with degenerative and/or debilitating conditions of the brain, and is my latest iteration of this concept that features actual reflective golden elements.
This painting is also a heartfelt tribute to those who have dedicated their lives and careers toward helping others regenerate their own brains. It is for the family members, therapists, nurses, physicians, scientists, and caregivers who make the foundational discoveries behind brain health and help us to take the necessary steps to improve our conditions to the greatest extent possible. Thank you all so much for your tireless efforts.
From all of the orders placed in the first 48 hours, I will select three at random and will gift an additional 12 x 16 sized print for them to give to the person or institution that they choose. This could be for a friend, relative, hospital, professor, health care worker, etc etc. who is themselves suffering from brain related trauma or who has dedicated themselves to relieve the suffering of others.
