Description
Cortical Twilight is a painting of the layers of cerebral cortex in blues, silvers, hints of lavender, and gold. Connections between the neural layers of the cortex lace both horizontally and vertically, containing the circuitry responsible for many aspects of our daily lives such as vision, touch, movement, logic, planning, attention, etc. The black and gold pyramidal neurons make up the primary workhorses of these regions, fielding both incoming and outgoing signals from the cortex. Peppered throughout this region are interneurons and astrocytes, cells that keep things tightly regulated. The original is 22K and 21K gold, ink, dye, and metal powder on stainless steel.
